**Financial independence is defined as the CIT student living with parent/guardian/s but able to prove gross earnings of at least $22,000 in the last 18 months.

Couple with no children/dependents with an annual gross income of $70,000

Single parent, couple/family with children/dependents, or applicants living with a parent/guardian/s who cannot demonstrate financial independence with a combined annual gross income of $90,000

Exceptional circumstances (For the purpose of this process, exceptional circumstances are considered to be situations or expenses that are unexpected and unusual e.g. accident, illness leading to unexpected costs or loss of income; not as a result of an unsuccessful outcome of another government department's policy e.g. unsuccessful Centrelink applications (not deemed independent) or lifestyle choices e.g. salary packaging).
