Ginninderry SPARK Program

Ginninderry's SPARK Training and Employment Initiative in partnership with Canberra Institute of Technology, is delivering training programs focused on giving individual's accredited training and introducing participants to career options and the range of associated vocational pathways.

Ginninderry Early Childhood Education and Care Program
(Program Commenced March 2021)

SPARK in partnership with North Belconnen Community Association Inc., YMCA Canberra and CIT, are delivering an innovative accredited training program focusing on skills development, work experience and employment within the Early Childhood Education and Care sector. Upon completion, participants will receive a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30113).

Disability Support Taster Program
(Program commenced September 2021)

SPARK in partnership with CIT are delivering an accredited training program focusing on skills development, work experience and potential employment within the community services sector. The program will provide four accredited units of competency from the Statement of Attainment Induction to Disability (CHCSS00081).

Conservation Land Management & Horticulture Taster Program
(Program Commenced July  2021)

SPARK in partnership with CIT delivered another innovative accredited training program focusing on giving individuals accredited training within the Conservation Land Management & Horticulture sector. This program provided participants with seven accredited units of competency from the Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management AHC31416 plus White Card and Asbestos Awareness. The 17 week program was a combination of practical hands on learning, theory and potential industry work experience placements.

Construction Taster Program
(Program Commenced May 2021)

SPARK in partnership with CIT delivered an accredited training program focusing on skills development, work experience and potential employment within the construction sector. The program provided eleven accredited units of competency from the Certificate II in Construction Pathways CPC20211 plus White Card and Asbestos Awareness.

Industry Explorer Program
(Program Commenced February, May & September 2021)

The SPARK Industry Explorer Program will started students off on the right foot with 13 weeks of full-time training across 8 industries. They gained a broad understanding of possible career paths and a selection of sought-after skills that prepared them for a brighter future. Upon completion, participants received a Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways FSK20119.

IT Taster Program
(Program Commenced July 2021)

SPARK in partnership with JobTrainer (a jointly funded initiative of the ACT and Australian Governments), Canberra Institute of Technology, and UnitingCare Kippax launched this brand new innovative training program to encourage more people to consider a career in the Information Technology Industry. The program provided students with a Statement of Attainment - Introduction to Organisational Cyber Security [extract from 22334VIC] and three accredited unit of competency from the Certificate III in Information Technology ICT30120.

    • Ginninderry Early Childhood Education and Care Program (Program Commenced Monday 23 March 2020)

      SPARK in partnership with North Belconnen Community Association Inc., YMCA Canberra and CIT, delivered an innovative accredited training program focusing on skills development, work experience and employment within the Early Childhood Education and Care sector.

      Upon completion, participants will receive a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30113).

    • Community Services Taster Program (Program commenced Tuesday 10 March 2020)

      SPARK in partnership with CIT delivered an accredited training program focusing on skills development, work experience and potential employment within the community services sector.

      The program provided four accredited units of competency from the Statement of Attainment Induction to Disability (CHCSS00081) and one accredited unit of competency from the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) (CHC33015).

    • 2019 Community Services Taster Program (Program Commenced August 2019)

      SPARK in partnership with CIT delivered an accredited training program focusing on skills development, work experience and potential employment within the community services sector.

      The program provided four accredited units of competency from the Statement of Attainment Induction to Disability (CHCSS00081) and one accredited unit of competency from the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) (CHC33015).

    • 2019 Hospitality Pre-Employment Program (Program Commenced August 2019)

      Due to the outstanding success of the 2018 program, SPARK in partnership with CIT secured funds to deliver another accredited training program focusing on skills development, work experience and employment within the Hospitality sector.

      This program was delivered at CIT Tuggeranong and provided participants with:

      - Certificate III in Hospitality (SIT30616) upon completion
      - Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate (ACT)
      - 32 Industry work placements shifts for those participants that meet the selection criteria
      - Potential employment pathway opportunities within the sector


    • 2019 Conservation Land Management & Horticulture Introduction Program (Program Commenced July 2019)

      SPARK in partnership with CIT delivered another innovative accredited training program focusing on giving individuals accredited training within the Conservation Land Management & Horticulture sector.     • 2019 SPARK Business Administration Pre-Employment Program (Program Commenced April 2019)

      SPARK in partnership with the CIT, offered a 10 week program focussing on skills development and work experience in the business administration sector. This program was run from CIT Tuggeranong and provided participants with a Certificate II in Business (BSB20115), industry specific training, guaranteed work experience and potential employment pathway opportunities.

    • 2019 Ginninderry Early Childhood Education and Care Program (Program Commenced March 2019)

      SPARK in partnership with North Belconnen Community Association Inc., YMCA Canberra and CIT, delivered an innovative accredited training program focusing on skills development, work experience and employment within the Early Childhood Education and Care sector. Participants received a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30113) and a Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways (FSK20113) upon successful completion.
  • 2018 Programs
    • 2018 Hospitality Pre-Employment Program (Completed November 2018)

      This program delivered an innovative accredited training program focusing on skills development, work experience and employment within the hospitality sector. Over the course of the program students learnt about safe work practices, food hygiene, workplace communication, service of food and beverages, social and cultural sensitivity, espresso preparation, bar operation, and processing financial transactions.

      Following completion, participants were awarded a Certificate III in Hospitality (SIT30616), Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate, and provided real employment pathways within the hospitality sector.

    • 2018 Conservation Land Management & Horticulture Introduction Program
      (Completed September 2018)


      This new training program focused on giving individuals accredited 'on the job' training within the Horticulture and Conservation Land Management sector in a unique classroom; the beautiful landscape of Ginninderry. The program introduced participants to career options and the range of associated vocational pathways, and combined practical hands on learning, theory and potential industry work experience placements. This partnership gave us an opportunity to work together to provide a unique, rich learning experience for participants with 17 graduating in September 2018.

    • 2018 West Belconnen Administration Pre-Employment Program (Completed June 2018)
      This program delivered an innovative accredited training program focusing on skills development and potential employment within the business administration sector. Theory, practical hands-on learning and industry work experience combined to provide successful participants with a Certificate II in Business (BSB20115), as well as an exciting range of potential job opportunities and unpaid work experience placements.

    • 2018 Belconnen Community Service Early Childhood Education and Care Program
      (Completed September 2018)


      This program delivered a new and innovative accredited training program focusing on skills development, work experience and employment within the Early Childhood Education and Care sector. The program was a combination of theory, and practical hands on learning and industry work experience. On completion of the six-month course graduates received their qualifications in Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30113), along with a Senior First Aid Certificate.
