Are you under the age of 17 years?

If you are under the age of 17 years and living in the ACT, then you need to know there’s been a major change to education requirements for young people in the ACT with a recent amendment to the Education Act.

The new requirement is for young people to remain in education following completion of your Year 10 studies, through participation in full-time education, training or employment until completing Year 12 or equivalent, OR, reaching age 17, whichever comes first.

Students and their parents, school communities, employers, and other education and training providers need to be aware of their responsibilities under the new legislation which came into effect on 1, January 2010.
