Help name new CIT Woden Campus public spaces

Published: 21 Mar 2024

As construction of the CIT Woden Campus continues to take shape, Canberrans are invited to suggest names for the three public green spaces surrounding the main CIT building.

"We received community feedback last year on the designs for the building and surrounding public spaces. This year we’re asking for ideas to name the three main green public spaces in the precinct," said Deputy Chief Minister Yvette Berry.

East-West Boulevard

The first of the three public spaces is a 169 metre long boulevard running east-west and set amongst native landscaping. Linking the interchange and the town centre, this central pathway will include a series of spaces for public seating, outdoor dining, and retail frontage.

North Plaza

At the northern end of the CIT Woden Campus is a sunny 3700m² break out space for students and the public to enjoy, with canopy trees and gardens providing wind and sun protection.

West Plaza

The third public space at the western end is a welcoming 1295m² plaza surrounded by a mix of native and non-native planting. The plaza features a gathering and ceremony space, seating with charging ports, accessible paths, and featured paving.

The following themes have been shared as a guiding framework to help the public to think about possible names.

  • First Nations
  • Innovation
  • Education

The community can put forward names under a single theme for all three public spaces or mix and match spaces, themes, and names.

Canberrans can submit their naming suggestions on the ACT Government's YourSay page or can present their ideas in person at pop-up information sessions being held at Westfield Woden, CIT Reid and CIT Bruce.
