Allied health is a career with many varied job opportunities and there is a shortage of many professionals needed in this broad field.
The CIT course in Allied Health Assistance provides therapeutic and course related support to allied health professionals. Students gain the skills to provide therapeutic and course related support to allied health professionals such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists. Completing this program can open up various pathways to working in the health sector, including opportunities to work as an Allied Health Assistant or as a stepping stone onto further study in the health field.
Teacher, Keryn Rigg explained that the Allied Health assistant students (Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance HLT43015) were working on assessing the balance and strength of clients and need to do this assessment on two occasions.
"It is a very practical course and can lead directly to work in the health care sector," Kerryn said "Students gain an introduction to anatomy, physiology, physio and there are many job opportunities in allied health at the moment in the health sector, nutrition, speech pathology and more"
"It is a great career as you get to help people and many of our students are straight out of school but there are many career changers as well."
