ABOUT THE COURSE

Strengthen your music theory and composition knowledge, music performance ability in contemporary styles, and gain essential skills for working in the music industry.

This course is designed for Year 11 and 12 students planning a career as a professional musician and is taught as a series of night classes over two years.

Delivered at CIT’s professional music studios on the CIT Reid campus, this hands-on course encourages students to build the confidence and real-world skills required for a career in the music industry. Students learn to develop their skills as a working musician through music performances and recording opportunities, including public music events and studio recording sessions.

This nationally recognised training course provides credit towards the Year 12 Certificate, and after successful completion students will be issued with the Certificate IV in Music Industry (CUA40915).

Duration: 2 years, part-time (studied alongside Year 11 and 12)

Class Time: 1 evening per week, during school terms

Weekly Commitment: 4.5 hours of class per week, plus study and practice time
