This course provides training for plumbing apprentices and covers installing, altering and repairing pipework services for hot and cold water supply, gas supply, sewerage, waste water and rain water disposal. It also covers the installation of metal roofing, gutters, downpipes and flashings.

Additional Information
You will need to provide your own protective clothing and equipment including full-length overalls, safety glasses, welding goggles, welding gloves, hearing protection and safety boots.
Elective streams at CIT include; water, gas, sanitary, draining and roofing. You will complete 5 elective streams instead of the minimum training package requirements of 4 during your apprenticeship. It is an ACT licencing requirement for a journey person plumber, drainer, gas fitter licence holder to successfully complete the additional roofing stream
On successful completion, graduates may apply for a Plumbers licence (Journeyperson) in the ACT to work fully qualified. This licence is issued by the Construction Occupations Registrar of Access Canberra (ACT Government). CIT does not issue this licence.

Entry Requirements
As you are entering this course as an apprentice under the Australian Apprenticeships arrangements, you must be employed in the industry and you must register with an Apprentice Network Provider (ANP) prior to enrolment.
Prior to commencing your training at CIT, you will be required to undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment to help identify areas where you may require additional assistance to achieve your qualification.
To study any course at CIT (excluding degrees and non-accredited training) you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
Literacy Skills Information
We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework levels of at least 2 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course. If you do not have this level, you can still enrol and seek support to improve your skills or you may prefer to begin with a lower level course, or enrol in the Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways (FSK20119) to develop your literacy skills.
