Additional Information

You will be required to provide protective clothing and equipment including safety gasses, hearing protection and safety boots. You will also need to have a tape measure and a pair of left and right handed snips.

Persons holding the qualifications the may be entitled to apply for registration outside the ACT - this is a licensed class in some jurisdictions.

Entry Requirements

As you are entering this program as an apprentice under the Australian Apprenticeships arrangements, you must be employed in the industry and you must register with an Apprentice Network Provider (ANP) prior to enrolment.

Prior to commencing your training at CIT, you will be required to undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment to help identify areas where you may require additional assistance to achieve your qualification.

It is highly recommended that you have CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry before entering a construction worksite

Include Asbestos awareness.

We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework levels of at least 2 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course. If you do not have this level, you can still enrol and seek support to improve your skills or you may prefer to begin with a lower level course, or enrol in the Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways (FSK20119) to develop your literacy skills.       Description: This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to work safely on construction sites where the worker has the potential to fall from one level to another. This unit of competency does not cover the erection of scaffold or work platforms, but it does include identifying and reporting common faults with scaffold or work platform systems. Work at heights is undertaken in a range of construction work, including new construction, renovation, refurbishment and maintenance. This unit also applies to workers in other industries who need to control the two separate risks associated with people and objects falling from heights. Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying out construction work. The unit covers fundamental WHS requirements necessary to undertake work tasks within any sector in the construction industry.
