Anda-Leigh Reilly,  Diploma of Engineering Student

Anda started studying the Diploma of Engineering - Technical (MEM50212) at CIT as her long-term goal is to create sustainable city environments that encourage vertical living while enhancing peoples' lives through a connection to nature and the community. Anda chose to study engineering after careful consideration of her strengths and the skills she enjoyed using.

"The teachers' passion and patience has had an enormous impact on my learning experience. It played a major part in keeping me motivated when the workload and other commitments got intense. The teachers can convey how the theory is related to the industry because they have applied it".

Anda got her current position in industry through an internal jobs board associated with the course and finds that companies actively recruit students enrolled at CIT. Anda wants to explore the opportunities available in the construction industry to better define her career path and is considering undertaking a further short course such as the Statement of Attainment Training in 3D Models of Building Designs.

Anda finds the skills learned and developed through the course have been directly transferable to her civil drafting role and in particular, the use of AutoCAD and understanding the drafting process.

Her word of advice to people looking to study? "Evaluate your strengths and skills preferably with a careers councillor and follow up with a talk to a faculty representative about what you want in your career".
