Sarah's passion for health and fitness began at an early age when she joined the ACT Academy of Sport (ACTAS) talent squad for track cycling which involved training at gyms and with personal trainers. Born and raised in Canberra, Sarah is now teaching CIT students with that same passion in health and fitness.

In 2010 Sarah started her Certificate III and Certificate IV in Fitness, then progressing on to the Diploma of Fitness in 2011. During her diploma studies, she worked at the CIT Fit & Well Gym and Massage Clinic. After the completion of her diploma she also began working at ANU Sport as a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor for 4 years.

She then became the ANU Sport Group Fitness Coordinator in 2015-2020 where she would manage over 75+ group fitness classes and over 50+ casual group fitness instructors that also delivered various classes around the ANU community and private groups.

After working at CIT for several years and starting out at CIT in casual and part-time teaching positions, Sarah has recently moved into a full-time role. Sarah teaches the Instruct Group Exercise subject in the Certificate III in Fitness course to the full-time, part-time, online and VLO (Vocational Learning Option) cohorts.

"What I love about the role is teaching the new CIT students how to become great group exercise instructors while using my fitness industry experience to provide a quality learning environment."

Sarah's drive for health and fitness is shown by her continual professional development in the field. She has completed the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and is certified in Les Mills Bodybalance, kettlebell, trigger point, boxing and kickboxing. Further to this, Sarah is looking into Body Barre training, and completing the Diploma of Vocational Education and Training, all of which contribute to quality student education.

What does a massage qualification from CIT offer students?

"The Certificate III in Fitness offers students an ability to work in gyms/fitness centres. On completion, the qualification gives the student skills and knowledge to fitness test and assess clients, write gym programs, instruct group exercise classes, supervise exercise environments and provide customer service at gym receptions."
