Dan Mclean - Music
With over 25 years of performing and 16 years of teaching experience in both Sydney and Canberra, Dan is well renowned for his teaching abilities and mastery of the trumpet.
Professionally trained in both jazz and classical trumpet, Dan has performed both internationally and nationally in a wide range of music styles including jazz, pop, rock, blues, contemporary, classical and musical theatre.
Dan is a highly sought after performer, and has contributed to a large number of recordings, jazz festivals, musical theatre and contemporary jazz projects. Highlights have included playing with James Morrison, lead trumpet with Royal Caribbean Cruises, Hetty Kate, Grace Knight, Lily Dior and several of Canberra's leading jazz and pop bands.
In 2008, Dan was the musical director for contemporary dance project 'Enduring Intimacy' at the National Gallery of Australia, composing and performing the entire project. Dan has composed a large body of music that he performs regularly, and can be found performing around town in 'The Funky Fedoras' and 'The Dan McLean Big Band'.
Dan is popular with students for his positive, relaxed teaching style that brings out the best in his students, and has also taught at ANU School of Music, Canberra Grammar Schools and in his private studio.
