Overview

This training will provide students with the basic skills and practical knowledge in coffee making. This short workshop covers the following content:

  • Basic introduction to hygiene and safety practices
  • How to use a commercial coffee machine including cleaning
  • Basic aspects of coffee making
  • How to froth milk and pouring techniques
  • Make a variety of coffees
This training provides a taste of the hospitality industry for students potentially interested in entering the industry. The training will provide the basic skills to be employed as a café/coffee shop attendant, or junior barista.

Duration:

Face to face delivery will take place in a simulated cafe at CIT Reid campus for 5 hours. Training can be adapted for delivery off-site in a suitable school-based or workplace environment.

Enrolment fees for this course are based on the costs per subject as indicated below. Subject costs identified as Full Fee receive no government subsidy. Concessions are not available. The fees below apply unless training as an apprentice or trainee.

Additional Information

Students must wear non-slip enclosed shoes and hair must be tied back to comply with hygiene and WHS standards.
