This creative industry focused, hands-on course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to work as a freelance make-up artist.
This course will provide you with essential skills and knowledge to create make-up looks for photographic events such as weddings, formals, make-up counter demonstrations and photographic shoots. You will learn:
- Airbrushed make-up
- Lash and brow services
- Cosmetic tanning services
You will develop confidence in selecting and applying products to achieve a make-up design that reflects flawless make-up results for any situation.
You will also learn the skills to apply creative make-up, camouflage make-up and make-up for photography.

Additional Information
To be successful in Certificate III in Make-Up, you will be required to undertake practical and theory assessments.
Students are required to purchase Kryolan T-shirt through the CIT Hair & Beauty Reception. It is recommended that students purchase two T-shirts, at a cost of approximately $25.00 per T-shirt. All students are required to wear Kryolan T-shirt, professional attire to all classes, including closed toe shoes and PPE (appropriate personal protective equipment).
Students are required to purchase their own tweezers for hygiene.
The Complete Make-up Artist Third Edition (Approx. $100) can be purchased at the Bookshop, CIT Reid. Recommended textbook.
You will be required to work closely with, and on, your fellow students to practice, experience and refine new skills. The nature of this work will include a variety of make-up services, lash extensions, spray tanning, retail services as well as lash and brow services.
Students develop skills and confidence working on other students and clients. All services are available within the Hair and Beauty Bar salon to paying clients, open -to-the-public under professional supervision.
On completion of this course, you may wish to continue your studies in Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy and Diploma of Beauty Therapy and complete both these additional qualifications within an extra twelve months.

Literacy Skills Information
We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework levels of at least 2 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course. If you do not have this level, you can still enrol and seek support to improve your skills or you may prefer to begin with a lower level course, or enrol in the Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways (FSK20119) to develop your literacy skills.
