CIT celebrates International Women's Day
Published: 06 Mar 2020
Each for Equal is the 2020 theme of International Women's Day (IWD) through which we are all being encouraged to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women's achievements.
IWD, Sunday 8 March, celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. This year's theme also provides an opportunity to reflect on how we can contribute to create a gender equal world.
As Canberra's premier Vocational Education and Training (VET) provider, CIT provides training and education to over 20,000 students each year. CIT is committed to creating a gender equal world and increasing women's representation in all parts of the workforce.
Our IWD celebration highlights and applauds the achievements of CIT students and graduates in their chosen fields, and we asked four of them what advice they would give to other women looking to get into a new industry or career. Watch what they had to say.
We also released four interviews featuring these students and how they pursue their educational and career objectives. Their full videos are below:
- Larissa Bascuñan, CIT Automotive Electrical Apprentice
- Taylor Williams, 2019 Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year and CIT Diploma of Government - CIT Solutions
- Laura Gunner, CIT Graduate with a Diploma in Information Technology
- Amelia Gulliford, 2019 ACT VET Trainee of the Year
We proudly enable women to seize opportunities in a range of industries and contribute to the workforce. #IWD2020 #EachForEqual
