Published: 06 Jun 2019

Graduates from the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) celebrated their academic success, at CIT's annual Celebration of Achievement at Bruce Hall on 6 June.

CIT Chief Executive Officer Leanne Cover said it is an honour to present our newest graduates and acknowledge their accomplishments and dedication to their studies.

"Today we acknowledge student achievements across diverse fields, ranging from Technology and Design, Trade Skills, Health and Community Science, Business and Leadership and Pathways including English Language acquisition," Ms Cover said.

"In a world of constant innovation and lifelong learning, CIT is proud to provide students with learning opportunities to gain the necessary skills and education achievement to pursue their future goals."

Over 300 students attended the event and were recognised for achieving qualifications including certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas and bachelor degrees.

The event was also an opportunity to acknowledge high achievers and leaders, with a range of prizes and medals awarded. Advanced Diploma of Accounting student Melanie Sbroja was awarded the CIT Medal, UC Prize and Craig O'Neil Prize.

This year's celebration event was led by Certificate IV in Hospitality (SIT40416) and Certificate III in Events (SIT30516) students and forms part of their major assessment piece, putting their learned hospitality and event management skills into practice in a real setting.
