Visas for study at CIT
You must be truthful about your residency status if you are on a temporary visa – because CIT will verify it with the Department of Home Affairs.
If you make a false claim about residency status, you may be excluded from our courses.
You will be required to provide proof of your visa/bridging visa prior to being admitted to any CIT course.
Visas are subject to change at any time by the Australian Government.

COURSES AVAILABLE FOR ANY VISA HOLDER

The courses listed below are open to any visa holder. You will be required to provide 100 points of identification, plus a Unique Student Identifier (USI) prior to being admitted to the course.

• Course in Asbestos Awareness 11084NAT (SA-TS90)
• Course in Crystalline Silica Exposure Prevention 10830NAT (SA-BD52)
• General Construction Induction (White Card Training) (SA-TS89)
• Responsible Service of Alcohol (SA-TS97)

HOLDER OF A STUDENT VISA (SUBCLASS 500)

If you are on one of the following visas you must go through CIT International for all courses excluding the courses listed below:
• Bar Service (SA-TS100)
• Course in Asbestos Awareness 11084NAT (SA-TS90)
• Course in Crystalline Silica Exposure Prevention 10830NAT (SA-BD52)
• General Construction Induction (White Card Training) (SA-TS89)
• Responsible Service of Alcohol (SA-TS97)
If you are the holder of a Student Visa (subclass 500) and wish to study any other course, please contact CIT International.

TEMPORARY VISAS - ESOS EXEMPT

ESOS Exempt Temporary Resident Visa holders can apply direct to CIT instead of going to CIT International. Prior to being admitted to a course, applicants are required to provide evidence of their Visa or Subclass Visa.
Holders of the following visa types are eligible for enrolment in Commonwealth and state or territory government initiatives, Australian Apprenticeships and have access to all standard courses:
• 309 - Partner (provisional)
• 445 - Dependent child
• 491 - Skilled work regional (provisional)
• 494 - Skilled employer sponsored (provisional)
• 785 - Temporary protection
• 790 - Safe haven enterprise
• 820 - Partner (temporary)
• 866 - Protection (XA)
• 887 - Skilled regional
• 890 - Business owner
• 891 - Investor
• 892 - Sponsored business owner
• 893 - Sponsored investor
• Criminal justice stay (subclass ZB 951) visa holders who are victims of human trafficking and slavery
• A bridging visa where the substantive visa being applied for appears on the eligible visa type list (evidence of the bridging visa must be collected)
• Refugees and asylum seekers who hold a bridging visa A, B, C or E (a current ACT Services Access Card provides acceptable evidence that an individual is an asylum seeker).
However, students on these visas are not eligible for the following:
- Fee Assistance
- VET Student Loans
- FEE-HELP
- Any direct Commonwealth Funding initiative which would exclude them as per eligibility requirements.

VET STUDENT LOAN ELIGIBLE VISAS

Students on the visas listed below are able to apply online for any course at CIT as long as the appropriate ID documents have been sighted.
Students are also eligible to apply for a VET Student Loan where the course is eligible for a Loan. Students must meet the additional academic requirements prior to applying for a VET Student Loan and meet the specific entry requirements the course.

• 851 - Resolution of status
• Protection visa (subclass 866)
• New Zealand citizen with a Special Category visa
• Pacific Engagement Visa (PEV) (subclass 192)
• Resident Return visa (subclass 155 and 157) and who has previously held a Permanent Humanitarian visa.
NOTE: If you are eligible for a VET Student Loan you are not eligible to apply for Fee Assistance for your course fees, however, you can apply for assistance to cover your material fees (eligibility criteria applies).
