Overview

This qualification will equip you with the skills to provide paralegal services in a law firm.
Through a blend of theory and practical coursework, you will learn how to support clients and lawyers across various areas of law, including: contract, tort, family, property, wills, and probate matters.
You will gain skills in research, taking instructions, applying legal principles, identify and interpreting compliance requirements and developing and supporting working relationships.

Duration:

24 weeks (25 hours per week) full-time to complete qualification or part-time equivalent. Maximum of 14 weeks to complete each unit.
If you have extensive relevant work experience and/or other relevant qualifications, you may be able to seek recognition or fast-track through the learning requirements and complete your qualification in less time.

Entry Requirements

Entry to this qualification is limited to those who have completed the following units (or equivalent competencies):
- BSBLEG314 Protect information in a legal services environment
- BSBLEG423 Conduct simple legal research
- BSBLEG424 Support the drafting of complex legal documents
or
Have two years equivalent full-time relevant work experience.
Once application has been received, the teaching department will contact you to confirm these entry requirements.

To study any course at CIT (excluding degrees and non-accredited training) you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

Literacy Skills Information

We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework literacy levels of at least 4 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course.
