Overview
This qualification reflects the role of personal trainers who develop, instruct and evaluate personalised exercise programs for generally healthy and low risk clients, to achieve specific fitness goals and improve client fitness outcomes. You will gain the knowledge and skills to work independently using highly developed fitness skills and knowledge in both routine and unpredictable situations.
This qualification provides a pathway to work as an employed or self-employed personal trainer in settings such as fitness facilities, gyms, leisure and community centres, client workplaces and homes, and outdoor locations. Personal trainers may offer services to individuals and groups and may provide online training services. In some employment contexts, personal trainers may be involved in team leadership or supervisory activities.

Additional Information
You will be required to purchase a Fitness Pack for $75, which includes CIT Fit and Well membership to gain access to the gym for practical sessions and familiarisation with equipment, water bottle, gym towel and CIT Fitness polo shirt to be worn during practical assessment and activities during your course. Fitness assessment equipment including tape measure, ruler & stopwatch all in a CIT Fit and Well tote bag. Your CIT Fit and Well membership can be used for your own training outside of course times.
Entry Requirements
Before commencing SIS40221 Certificate IV in Fitness, students are required to complete and be deemed competent in the units of competency below (or superseded units), which are available as part of the SIS30321 Certificate III in Fitness.

Before any practical work experience you will be required to undertake a 'Working with Vulnerable People Check'.

To study any course at CIT (excluding non-accredited training) you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
Literacy Skills Information
We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework literacy levels of at least 3 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course. If you do not have this level, you can still enrol and seek support to improve your skills or you may prefer to begin with the lower level course. Please visit Foundation Skills.
