FSK20119 - Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways

This course is for students who want to return to the workforce or study, increase their skill in workplace communication or are looking to change careers and would like to develop a career plan.

Students will learn about how to learn, workplace communication skills and how to plan for a career. The students in this course can negotiate the electives from CIT statement of attainments or Skill Sets as part of their career plan.

The course can be tailored and delivered for special interest groups.

The qualification is suitable for individuals who require:
- a pathway to employment or further vocational training
- reading, writing, oral communication, learning and numeracy skills primarily aligned to the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) Level 3
- entry level digital literacy and employability skills
- a vocational training and employment plan.

Duration:

The duration of this course is approximately 6 to 12 months. This course is currently offered two days a week on campus with additional online learning. The time to complete the course will vary depending on subjects enrolled into and the number of classes attended.

Students enrolled into support classes can expect to attend 1 to 2 hours per week face-to-face training on top of their vocational course as well as online activities.

Delivery for this course is blended; face to face and online.
For Skilled Capital students, Apprentices and Trainees; on completion of the Language Literacy and Numeracy quiz (LLN Robot) a student might be identified as requiring extra LLND support which requires the student to enrol into this course.

There are no additional fees charged to students studying as an ACT Australian Apprentice/Trainee or enrolled as an ACT Skilled Capital student when enrolling into this course.

Entry Requirements

Students entering this program will be assessed against the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) for reading, writing, communication, numeracy, learning and digital to advise you on the best starting point for your learning journey.

To meet the inherent requirements of this program students will need to be at exit level ACSF 2 with the aim and ability to progress to ACSF level 3 throughout the program of study.

Current CIT students:
You will be advised to participate in this course if you need extra support with your apprenticeship or other CIT study.

Skills Recognition

To study any course at CIT (excluding degrees and non-accredited training) you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

Literacy Skills Information

We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework levels of at least 2 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course. If you do not meet this level, you will be referred to a student support staff member to discuss other possible options. Refer to the CIT Foundation Skills page.
