Overview

This program is delivered as a support qualification for students who are enrolled into an ACT apprenticeship/traineeship or other CIT qualification and is designed for individuals who require further foundation skills development to prepare for workforce entry or vocational training pathways.

The full program is only delivered for special interest groups.

The qualification gives you:

- a pathway to employment or vocational training
- reading, writing, numeracy, oral communication and learning and numeracy skills primarily aligned to the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) Level 3
- entry level digital literacy and employability skills
- a vocational training and employment plan.

The duration of this course is approximately 12 months studying part-time, or fulltime over one semester, depending on subjects enrolled into and the number of classes attended.

On completion of the Language Literacy and Numeracy quiz (LLN Robot) a student might be identified as requiring extra LLN support which requires the student to enrol into this program.

There are no additional fees charged to students studying as an ACT Australian Apprentice/Trainee or enrolled as an ACT Skilled Capital student when enrolling into this program.

To study any course at CIT (excluding degrees and non-accredited training) you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

Literacy Skills Information

We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework levels of at least 2 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your program of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this program. If you do not have this level, you can still enrol and seek support to improve your skills or you may prefer to begin with a lower level program, or enrol in the Certificate I in Skills for Vocational Pathways (FSK10213) to develop your literacy skills. Transition Information

Qualifications at CIT are regularly updated or replaced to meet current industry needs and maximise your employment opportunities.       Description: This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work. The unit requires the person to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work. This unit meets requirements under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011.
