This course provides you with the opportunity to lead teams, manage programs and design and implement curriculum for children in Early Childhood Education and Care services.
Qualification:
Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care CHC50121
2 semesters full-time (approx. 20 hours per week) or part-time equivalent. Includes work-based delivery
You will also need to complete approx. 8 hours per week of independent and self-directed learning to practise and develop your skills.
If you have not completed the entry requirements you may need an additional 2 semesters full time to complete CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

Enrolment fees for this course are based on the costs per subject as indicated below. The total course cost may vary depending on the choice of elective subjects or if subjects are attempted more than once. Subject costs identified as Standard are partially subsidised by the ACT Government. Concessions may be available to eligible students.

You will be required to have a 'Working with Vulnerable People Check' before undertaking any professional placement with children.

This course has a mandatory industry placement of 280 hours
You must purchase a CIT shirt ($22) and in addition, you are required to wear a hat whilst on placement ($11 or wear your own).
Entry Requirements
Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who:
- hold a CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or
- CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework literacy levels of at least 3 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course. If you do not have this level, you can still enrol and seek support to improve your skills or you may prefer to begin with the lower level course. Please visit Foundation Skills.
