  • Preparation for Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE)
    • This is a short, highly focused preparation course for anyone wanting to sit for the Pearson Test of English Academic.

    • You will become familiar with the test format and intensively practice all PTE test items. You will learn tips and advice to help you achieve your best on the test.

    • Each lesson will target the specific speaking, listening, reading and writing skills needed to successfully complete each test item. Your global communication skills will also be improved during your active participation in these classes.

    • Recommended English language entry requirements: A minimum of PTEA 43-50, IELTS 5.5, CIT English for Life Upper-intermediate, TOEFL iBT 71 or equivalent.

    • Academic techniques is a three day workshop that runs every January and July to develops students' academic techniques for a range of courses. Enrol in our interactive workshop and improve your skills in: essay and report writing; research skills; referencing skills; creative and empathetic responses; skills for group work; oral presentation skills; study skills; pathway planning.

  • Chemistry Fundamentals
    • THINKING OF STUDYING A SCIENCE QUALIFICATION THAT REQUIRES CHEMISTRY? NEED TO BRUSH UP ON YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF CHEMISTRY?

    • This four week bridging course provides students with the fundamentals of chemistry for courses at CIT, university and the ACT Senior Secondary Certificate. It is a blend of three weeks online study with one week of face-to-face practical sessions in a chemistry laboratory. Topics covered include: atomic and bonding modelling; the structure and properties of elements and compounds; the concept of enthalpy, to describe and explain qualitatively and quantitatively energy changes in chemical reactions; using science inquiry skills to design, conduct, evaluate and communicate investigations into the properties of elements, compounds and mixtures and the energy changes involved in chemical reactions; evaluate, with reference to empirical evidence, claims about chemical properties, structures and reactions.

    • Successful completion of this course will give you an ACT Board of Senior Secondary Studies record of achievement in Unit 1 Chemistry.

  • Mathematics Tutorials for senior secondary students
    • This three hour weekly tutorial targets tertiary level Mathematical Applications, Mathematical Methods and Specialist Methods students. It runs for nine weeks each school term at CIT Bruce and CIT Tuggeranong. Individual support is available to students in a tutorial setting with experienced teachers. Tutorial topics include applied maths; calculus; statistics; algebra; functions and graphs; and probability.
