Overview

This course will provide biometric technicians with knowledge and skills to examine, interpret, communicate and report technical and practical information on face biometric technologies.

It provides students with ability to conduct morphological facial image comparisons, using anatomical and physiological characteristics of the face, limitations of facial images and comparison techniques.

Duration:

CIT will deliver this course of training over a period of 15 weeks part-time. Learners will be provided with flexibility to incorporate and complete blended learning and assessments within their own work environment. Learners should allocate an additional 2 – 4 hours per unit per week, for independent study, learning and assessment preparation.

Entry Requirements

To enrol in this course, you must hold 11324NAT Certificate IV in Biometrics or have equivalent industry experience, knowledge and skills.

Skills Recognition

To study any course at CIT (excluding non-accredited training) you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

Literacy Skills Information

We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework literacy levels of at least 3 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course.       Description: This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to examine, interpret, and report on facial image comparisons using terminology and techniques in a workplace. This includes assessing individual workplace requirements in accordance with applicable legislation, security, and privacy protocols. It requires the ability to conduct morphological facial image comparisons, using anatomical and physiological characteristics of the face, limitations of facial images and comparison techniques. It also includes the reporting on the results of facial comparisons using evidentiary standards. This unit could be applied in, but is not limited to, the following workplaces: police services, border security agencies, security organisations, road traffic agencies, investigation units, banking, and telecommunications. No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

It requires the ability to identify and analyse face biometric systems to meet a workplace need. This includes assessing individual workplace requirements in accordance with industry standards, legislation, security, and privacy-related protocols. This unit could be applied in, but is not limited to, the following workplaces: police services, border security agencies, security organisations, road traffic agencies, investigation units, banking, and telecommunications. This unit applies to roles that involve the application of a face biometric system for implementation within the workplace. It does not apply to roles that involve the technical installation of face biometric systems. No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
