This course will provide biometric technicians with knowledge and skills to process and interpret biometric systems and data. This includes conducting face, hand, eye and/or voice identification and verification.

CIT will deliver this course over a period of two (2) semesters full time, with part time options available. Students should allocate an additional 4-6 hours per unit per week, for independent study, learning and assessment preparation.

While this course is delivered predominantly online, some practical sessions will require face-to-face attendance. These are identified in the subject guide for each unit.

Entry Requirements

We recommend that you are:

  • currently working in or have an interest in a public or private sector agency that conducts identification or biometric work
  • able to demonstrate proficient computer skills
  • able to demonstrate appropriate literacy, numeracy and digital skills.

Literacy Skills Information

We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework literacy levels of at least 3 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course.
