Identify and report asbestos containing materials
CIT Code: BLDG242 Cost: Full fee $190.00 Description: This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required for workers who may come into contact with asbestos or asbestos containing materials (ACM). It describes the outcomes required to anticipate, and be prepared for the presence ACMs and to follow the correct safety guidelines for reporting and communicating the existence of ACMs in a building or work-site. This unit meets requirements under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011. This unit supports the attainment of skills and knowledge required for a range of qualified and unqualified personnel who may come into contact with asbestos containing materials so that the health and safety hazards associated with disturbing these materials are prevented and reported. It is expected that site-specific induction training will be conducted prior to conducting construction work. Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit. Relevant work health and safety state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm jurisdictional requirements. Prerequisites: Nil
