Kim Espinoza - Community Services
I had been working in a number of different roles, but was still trying to find an area that I was really interested in.

I am quite picky when it comes to study, but I knew someone who had studied a community services course at CIT and really enjoyed it. I had always been interested in people, so I decided to enrol.
I studied both the Certificate IV in Youth Work and Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs, and I have almost completed all of my subjects.
I have really enjoyed the courses. The teachers are a wealth of knowledge - they're very open to new perspectives which I like, and they’re not too conservative about how they do things.
I studied at CIT Woden, and it was a great place to meet lots of people of different backgrounds and ages. And the hours were great – you can choose options that fit in with your lifestyle.
I’m currently doing work experience at a youth centre as part of my studies. It's great getting hands-on experience and developing more social skills. I find the experience really helps with your studies, because you can study something all you want, but it's entirely different to actually do it.
I hope to continue to work in the field and possibly incorporate more study, in particular in psychology.
