Steve Wright - Fashion

I have been heavily involved in the Canberra and Australian fashion industry for over a decade and I am interested in challenging current methods of design in fashion and systems of production.

Fashion is a fast-moving and ever evolving industry so having the most up to date skills is critical for me - both as a teacher and as a fashion designer.

I launched my own fashion label, Corr Blimey, ten years ago and have been co-running it successfully ever since. Corr Blimey focuses on sustainable approaches to design with a sculptural street wear edge. As a label owner the skills I pass on to students, many of whom are budding fashion label owners themselves, are relevant and realistic giving students the best chance of success once they graduate.

I am very passionate about sustainable design and I think it's important to teach leading-edge sustainable techniques in fashion design at CIT. I pioneered orinuno, which is a superior technique for the folding of fabric which helps to reduce waste in the manufacturing process and generate innovative silhouettes.

Our students are now graduating with a high level of environmental awareness and a sense of responsibility.
