Teaching Hours for Existing General Staff Policy
1. Purpose
To define a mechanism by which general staff can be utilised to perform teaching hours.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all permanent and temporary CIT general staff.
This policy must be read in conjunction with the Second Jobs and Volunteering Policy and Concurrent Employment in the ACTPS Policy.
3. Principles
3.1 Where a general staff member is to take up additional employment as a casual educator they must have approval to work a second job (see Holding a second job) and either:
- 3.1.1 have an approved period of leave without pay for the period of casual teaching.
- 3.1.2 have an approved period of flex time.
- 3.1.3 reduce their normal hours of employment.
- 3.1.4 teach outside of their normal working hours.
3.2 Once approval to work a second job is given it remains current for the remainder of the calendar year unless it is withdrawn earlier. The approval must be renewed each year.

5. Definitions
