Clarification on EV Centre of Excellence training activities

Published: 28 May 2026

CIT is aware of recent commentary regarding training activities delivered through the EV Centre of Excellence and categorically rejects allegations that are factually incorrect and do not reflect the high standards upheld by our staff, students and industry partners.

A hire vehicle was used on one occasion during an offsite training session for transport and limited demonstration purposes. During workshop activities, the vehicle was used to identify components and safety features. No servicing, mechanical work or modification was undertaken. The vehicle was returned in the same condition it was received, and at no time was there any risk to participants, staff or the public.

Participants in these programs are qualified automotive professionals undertaking targeted industry upskilling. Entry to training is subject to a screening process, and all delivery aligns with national training and safety standards.

CIT received a complaint earlier this year and commenced a review in line with established processes, which is now in its final stages. This process reflects our commitment to strong governance and continuous improvement.

We are proud that CIT was selected to deliver the first national TAFE Centre of Excellence, underscoring the strength of our partnerships and our commitment to industry‑relevant training. The EV Centre of Excellence plays a critical national role in preparing and upskilling Australia’s workforce for the transition to zero‑emissions vehicles, supporting both industry professionals and educators through high‑quality, industry‑aligned training.

CIT remains committed to delivering safe, high‑quality, industry‑aligned training that meets the needs of industry and the community.
