Internet and WiFi access

CIT students and staff have Wi-Fi internet access at all CIT locations free of charge.

This allows students with wireless compatible laptops to access the internet from a range of student common areas including the library, selected classrooms and lecture theatres, as well as coffee shops and canteens.

Student use of Wi-Fi must be in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. Normal student internet limits apply to wireless usage.

To use the Wi-Fi, you need to have a Microsoft 365 (M365) account issued by CIT.

If you do not have a CIT M365 account, you can use 'CIT Public' Wi-Fi to connect and access the Internet.

How to connect

  • Turn on Wi-Fi on your device.
  • Connect to ONE wireless network.
  • Enter your username and password when prompted:
CIT students: CIT Student email address and password
    CIT staff: Network login
  • Use these settings to configure your wireless connection if you need to:
    Security/Encryption: WPA2 Enterprise
    CA Certificate: Use system certificates
    Domain: One.act.gov.au

Make sure to keep your internet access password secure.

Internet conditions of use

When accessing CIT ICT resources and services, students must not:

  • access, download or store inappropriate or offensive material. This includes adult content and other offensive material
  • intentionally send unauthorised widespread mail-outs or chain letters or other malware, eg viruses
  • intentionally create, send or access information that could damage the Institute's reputation, be misleading or deceptive, result in victimisation or harassment, lead to criminal penalty or civil liability, or be reasonably found to be offensive, obscene, threatening, abusive or defamatory
  • save or copy unofficial software and/or large personal files greater than 2MB, to any network drive. (e.g. non-standard graphics, screen savers, '.exe' files, music and/or video files).

CIT will log and monitor all ICT related activity on network infrastructure equipment and applications and will take disciplinary action against students found to be in breach of this policy.

Need help?

For help with accessing Wi-Fi, ask CIT staff for help or refer to the How to connect to ‘ONE’ network help guide.

Library staff can provide limited general support for personal wireless devices. If you need additional support, consult your device’s user manual or vendor.

Trouble connecting to Wi-Fi

If you’re still having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi, try forgetting the Wi-Fi network and reconnecting by following the How to connect to ‘ONE’ network help guide. This will update your trust certificate settings so that you can easily connect to the Wi-Fi. Trust certificates are updated multiple times a year at CIT to keep your data safe.

Activating your M365 account

To activate your CIT M365 account, follow the instructions for using Microsoft Office 365 for Students.
