Passwords
Students have one username (CIT number) and password to access all student systems at CIT (e.g. Internet, Self Service, eLearn). When you enrol at CIT you will be sent an email to activate your Microsoft 365 account and set your password.
To change your password go to passwordreset.microsoftonline.com, and complete the form. Use your student email account (CIT******@students.cit.edu.au).
Before you start think about a password, the requirements are:
- 10 characters or more
- at least one capital letter, one number and one symbol
- CANNOT be one of your last 20 passwords
- CANNOT include common phrases or your name.
Secure your password and do not give it out to anyone.

- visit the CIT Library on any campus.
How to change your password from your personal computer
- Sign in to office.com/signin with your CIT student account (CIT******@students.cit.edu.au).
- Click the Settings icon in the top right.
- Click Change your password from the settings menu.
- Enter your old password.
- Create a new password.
- Confirm new password.
- Select Submit to finish and change your password.
How to change your password if you have forgotten it
If you have forgotten your password go to passwordreset.microsoftonline.com, and complete the form.
Use your student email account (CIT******@students.cit.edu.au).
How to change your password from a CIT computer
- Login to a CIT computer.
- Press CTRL + ALT + DEL.
- Select Change a password.
- Enter your old password.
- Create a new password.
- Confirm new password.
- Select Submit to finish and change your password.
- Your password has been changed - OK.
