Overview
This specially designed skill set will provide you with the skills and knowledge to diagnose and repair battery electric vehicles (BEV’s) in the automotive service and repair industry.
This skill set is for individuals with existing automotive technology skills and knowledge, who work in automotive mechanical or electrical technical contexts, and who are looking to upskill in the area of BEVs. Entry requirements apply to this skill set.
To achieve this skill set you will complete the following units of competency:
- AURETH103 Diagnose and repair high voltage rechargeable energy storage systems in battery electric vehicles.
- AURETH107 Diagnose and repair system instrumentation and safety interlocks in battery electric vehicles*
- AURETH104 Diagnose and repair traction motor speed control systems in battery electric vehicles.
- AURETH105 Diagnose and repair high voltage traction motors in battery electric vehicles.
- AURETH106 Diagnose and repair auxiliary motors and associated components in battery electric vehicles*
- AURETH108 Diagnose and repair HVAC and rechargeable energy storage cooling systems in battery electric vehicle*
- AURETH109 Diagnose and repair DC to DC converters in battery electric vehicles*
- AURETH015 Diagnose, remove and replace heavy electric vehicle rechargeable energy storage system.

Training will be undertaken over 12 full days, 4 hours of online pre learning must be undertaken prior to the full day sessions.
The 12 days will be broken into 4 x 3-day blocks of attendance in the CIT Fyshwick Electric Vehicle Training Lab. |

Additional Information
You will need to wear appropriate personal protective clothing when in the CIT Automotive Workshops. These include:
- Overalls
- Long sleeve Cotton drill shirt
- Long pants - cotton drill/ jeans
- Leather safety boots EH (Electrical Hazard Rated)
- Safety glasses

Entry Requirements
This skill set is for individuals with existing automotive technology skills and knowledge, who work in automotive mechanical or electrical technical contexts, and who are looking to upskill in the area of BEVs.
This skill set is limited to those who have completed the following qualification and units of competency:
- AUR31120 Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent including the following units:
- AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent including the following units:
- AURETH101 Depower and reinitialise battery electric vehicles
- AURETH102 Inspect and maintain battery electric vehicles
- AURETU103 Service air conditioning and HVAC systems
- AURETU104 Diagnose and repair air conditioning and HVAC components
