This hands‑on short course introduces the fundamentals of welding in a safe and supportive workshop environment. Delivered over nine evening sessions, it is designed for individuals with some prior welding or trade experience who want to broaden or refresh their skills across MIG, TIG, and Stick welding. Training focuses on strengthening technique, improving weld quality, and reinforcing best-practice safety and equipment handling.
You will gain hands-on experience applying different welding processes to a range of materials and joint types, with emphasis on achieving consistency, accuracy, and code-aligned results. Ideal for operators seeking to advance their skill level.
With a strong focus on safety awareness, confidence building and adaptability across different welding methods, this course emphasises practical learning in a real workshop setting. A workshop induction and guidance on appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) are provided to support a safe and engaging learning experience.

Eligibility and entry requirements
To enrol in this course, you must be aged 17 years or older, and be one of the following:
- an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- a New Zealand citizen
- the holder of a permanent humanitarian visa
- an eligible temporary visa holder as defined in the CIT Admission and Enrolment Policy.
Participants are required to supply their own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for this course, including welding helmet, safety glasses, welding gloves, flame-resistant shirt, leather boots, hearing protection, and a respirator or dust mask (P2).
