Overview
This course is designed to provide you with fundamental skills in networking, network operating systems and computer Hardware and maintenance. You will be introduced to virtual and physical environments using a range of technologies and safe working practices.
This course will engage you with the Cisco Network Academy and learn how to create a peer-to-peer network incorporating wired and virtual networked environments including network protocols and packet tracing. It will enable an understanding of IP addressing, Active Directory Infrastructure and disaster recovery and back up. You will also gain an understanding of how a computer functions, identify computer components and obtain hands on experience in computer maintenance.

This course is delivered part time over one (1) semester (approx. 9 hours per week). It is expected you will spend approximately the same number of hours in private study to practice skills and apply new knowledge. Classes are completed on campus, face to face and attendance is required. There are dedicated workshops available to support students in understanding and applying the practical application of skills learnt. |

This course provides the relevant technical skills required to undertake the Certificate IV in Information Technology (Networking Stream), or the Certificate IV in Cyber Security.
Upon enrolment into the course, you are required to make additional purchases of hardware items to use during the dedicated class sessions. This includes:

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However, it is assumed that you have demonstrated vocational experience in a range of work environments using basic information technologies.

Literacy Skills Information
We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework literacy levels of at least 3 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course.
