Ryka grew up in Canberra and knew that he wanted to pursue a career that involved the human body from an early age. He initially enrolled to become a high-school teacher, but changed majors to graduate with a degree in applied science. Since then, he has never stopped the process of learning and studying.
Ryka has worked a variety of jobs, including selling books, teaching swimming and even being a barista. Standing out among the many highlights of his career, was when he was selected to work in Germany with a leading research company for a year. After a change in career direction, he has been helping the people of Canberra move better with less pain as a dual qualified osteopath and remedial massage therapist.
In 2008, Ryka started working at CIT and has taught across a number of courses, with a consistent input and presence within the massage course. Ryka enjoys the process of teaching and solving problems. He finds the reward of teaching requires patience, dedication and commitment. A common gratifying experience for Ryka is when he is reunited with former students and learns of their achievements.
