This course is designed for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people who would like to improve their reading, writing, numeracy, digital (computing) and learning skills to participate more fully in everyday life, further learning and work. You will be taught by well qualified and experienced Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander teachers within a community setting. We aim to have an interactive, visual classroom that brings the outside environment inside the classroom. We can help you improve your reading and writing skills, this is the opportunity to do something about it in a safe and culturally sensitive environment.

Duration:
Self-paced course, 1 Semester full-time (approximately 15 hours per week) OR 2 Semesters part-time.

Enrolment fees for this course are based on the costs per subject as indicated below. The total course cost may vary depending on the choice of elective subjects or if subjects are attempted more than once. Subject costs identified as Standard are partially subsidised by the ACT Government. Concessions may be available to eligible students.

Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for any of the Certificates in General Education for Adults, however your skills will be assessed on entry to advise you on the best starting point for your successful learning journey.
Qualifications at CIT are regularly updated or replaced to meet current industry needs and maximise your employment opportunities. If this occurs while you are part way through a qualification, you may need to vary your learning to meet the new national requirements. CIT will aim to make this as smooth as possible for you.
Subject Cancellations/Changes

The learner will develop and maintain a portfolio of evidence over time. Learners at this level work independently and initiate and use support from a range of established resources.

It encompasses selection of an activity, developing a plan, and preparing the required resources. The focus of the unit is on interpreting a range of structurally complex paper based and web based text types which are relevant to personal purposes and which may include some specialisation and non-routine contexts. This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to develop, implement and monitor a personal savings budget. It has wide application and may be used in workplaces, schools, adult and community learning organisations or registered training organisations to build the financial literacy of learners. The unit may also be used as part of pre-vocational or new apprenticeship programs, or as part of services provided by counselling or advisory organisations.
It applies to individuals who use new ideas and techniques to develop personal financial literacy skills.
