Adult Learners Week achievement for Hayley

Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) student, Hayley Drummond, has received a scholarship as part of Adult Learners Week, Home - Adult Learners Week but it's a small hand-made gift Hayley presented to her teacher that shows the positive power of education.

Hayley was invited to Parliament House this week to receive her scholarship from Federal Minister for Skills and Training, The Hon Brendan O'Connor MP to support her ongoing education.

Hayley, who is studying Foundation Skills - also presented a special memento to her CIT teacher, Fran Handoko, who nominated Hayley for the scholarship.  Hayley gave Fran a hand-made figurine she'd sculpted of her supportive teacher.

Fran, touched by the gift, said: "Hayley's Literacy, Communication, and Digital skills have grown significantly, and she is now looking forward to pursuing further studies at CIT in Individual Support (CHC33021). Her achievement has obviously given Hayley a sense of confidence, optimism and determination that she will be able to achieve her goals."
