Banner Terminology
When using CIT’s Student Administration System (Banner), you may see the following terms:
Class Timetable
Your class timetable shows when and where your classes are scheduled, including class dates, times, and locations.
CRN (Course Reference Number)
A CRN is a unique number used to identify a specific class or subject offering. You will often use a CRN when enrolling in a subject.
Course
In Banner, a course (or course of study) refers to the qualification you have been admitted to and are studying, such as an Advanced Diploma of Accounting.
Term
A term is the study period in which your classes are scheduled. Terms are generally equivalent to semesters and are identified by a Banner term code.
For example:
- Semester 1 = Banner Term ending in 10
- Semester 2 = Banner Term ending in 20
If you are unsure about any terminology used in Banner, contact CIT Student Services for assistance.
