This course is designed for those working in the resources and infrastructure sectors in operational roles. You’ll gain a strong understanding of risk management, safety protocols and compliance requirements, preparing you to work effectively across a range of industry settings.

Regulation: A White Card (General Construction Induction) is required for all workers on construction sites. General construction induction training must be completed before starting work.

Additional Information

PPE

During training and assessment, participants must wear suitable PPE for working on a construction site, including at a minimum:

  • high visibility clothing,
  • safety boots,
  • eye protection,
  • hearing protection, and
  • hard hat.

Entry Requirements

  • Be physically fit and able to work at heights.
  • Have English language skills to effectively communicate and work safely with others in the work area and to read and comprehend manufacturer's instructions and workplace procedures and safety signs.
  • Participants must also be able to apply mathematical procedures for the estimation and measurement of loads.

These skills will be checked prior to enrolment.

      Description: This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to enter and work in confined spaces in the resources and infrastructure industries. It applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under supervision to undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures and take responsibility for the quality of work outcomes. Licensing, legislative and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories and industry sectors. Users must check requirements with relevant body before applying the unit.Note: The terms Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Work Health and Safety (WHS) are equivalent and generally either can be used in the workplace. In jurisdictions where the National Model WHS Legislation has not been implemented RTOs are advised to contextualise the unit of competency by referring to the existing State/Territory OHS legislative requirements.
