This course focuses specifically on the development of spoken and written language skills required to continue with higher education studies. It provides a general education curriculum for English as an additional language (EAL) primarily targeted to students who need to develop higher-level language skills to enter higher education or higher-level training.

Skills Recognition
Entry Requirements
Entry to this course will normally be determined through diagnostic screening.
Previous English language test scores, usually not more than one year old, or completion of an appropriate English language course at another institution may also be used to determine the correct entry level.
The following are indicative scores for entry to CSWE IV FS mapped to a number of major international testing systems:
- IELTS General or Academic 5.5 in all skill bands
- TOEFL iBT - 46
- PTE Academic - 42 (minimum of 42 in each band)
- Cambridge English test (C1 Advanced and B2 First) - 162
To study any course at CIT (excluding degrees and non-accredited training) you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
