Overview

In this program you will gain the skills and knowledge to provide advice and practical assistance on the interior styling of existing interior spaces to meet client requirements.

You will cover the research and analysis of the client brief, planning and arrangement of the given space, selection of colours, specification of finishes and furnishings and sourcing, costing and purchasing of product.

You will be decorating for small residential or commercial environments and be involved with working directly with the client or with associated professionals such as architects, builders, retailers, interior designers and suppliers required to implement a project.

Duration: Approx. 2 semesters full-time (approx. 23 hours per week - you will also be expected to undertake some independent project and studio work) OR approx 3 semesters part-time.

Entry Requirements / How to Apply

You must
- have an Australian Year 12
- OR complete a literacy assessment with CIT to demonstrate a literacy of at least ACSF Level 3 in writing and math
- OR be mature-age with a demonstrated interest in the field (this may include workplace or other practical experience). If you do not have a Year 12 and you wish to continue to the Diploma, you will be required to demonstrate a literacy of at least ACSF Level 3 in writing and maths.

After you apply, CIT will email you with details about submitting a copy of your Australian Year 12 or how to complete the literacy assessment, and details about submitting other evidence or attending an interview if listed above.

To study any course at CIT (excluding degrees and non-accredited training) you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

Further Study

Students completing the Certificate IV in Interior Decoration can continue into the Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration and the Advanced Diploma of Interior Design.
