CIT Woden student lockers

CIT Woden Student Locker Guidelines

Purpose

These guidelines outline the availability and conditions of use for student lockers at CIT Woden, supporting secure, short-term storage of learning materials and personal belongings.

Scope

CIT Woden has a limited number of student lockers available for use, which are available free-of-charge. These lockers provide secure, short-term storage for learning materials and personal belongings to support students in their studies.

Locker Availability

  1. Each student may use only one locker at a time. Allocation is on a first-come, first-served basis and subject to availability.
  2. Lockers are categorised as either general-use or special-purpose.
  3. General-use lockers are available to all students for storing personal items such as books, bags, and course materials.
  4. Special-purpose lockers are reserved for students enrolled in specific programs (e.g. music, fashion, hospitality) and may have different usage conditions set by the relevant teaching department.

Terms and Conditions of Use

  1. Locker use is conditional upon acceptance of these guidelines.
  2. Lockers are available only to students enrolled in at least one subject/program delivered at CIT Woden.
  3. Access is permitted only during standard building hours.
  4. Lockers must be emptied by 4:00pm on the final day of each term. Unused lockers may be deemed abandoned and unlocked by CIT Facilities.
  5. CIT reserves the right to monitor locker use and revoke access if necessary.
  6. Lockers must be kept clean and unaltered. Stickers, labels, or modifications are not permitted.
  7. Any damage or failure to return lockers in acceptable condition may incur a cleaning or repair fee.
  8. Food stored in lockers must be sealed to prevent contamination or odour.
  9. CIT students use the lockers at their own risk and must follow the Student Locker Guidelines. Subject to rights under the Australian Consumer Law, CIT is not liable for theft, damage, or loss of property.
  10. Misuse or deliberate damage may result in disciplinary action under the Student Conduct Policy and Student Code of Conduct.

Special-Purpose Lockers

  1. Student access to special-purpose lockers is managed by the relevant teaching department.
  2. Usage timeframes for special-purpose lockers may differ from general lockers and will reflect course-specific needs.
  3. Unless otherwise specified, all general locker conditions apply to special-purpose lockers.

CIT Access and Locker Management

  1. CIT reserves the right to access lockers under the following circumstances:
    1. Expired usage period
    2. Environmental concerns (e.g. odours, pests)
    3. Suspected prohibited or dangerous items
    4. Breach of guidelines
    5. User barred from campus
    6. Maintenance or troubleshooting
    7. Legal directive from law enforcement
  2. CIT may remove locker contents under the above conditions. Illegal items will be surrendered to police.
  3. Removed contents may be stored for up to 30 days.
    1. Items not collected within 30 days become CIT property and may be donated or disposed of.
    2. Spoiled or perished items may be discarded earlier.

Breach of Terms and Conditions of Locker Use

  1. Breaches may result in:
    1. Fees for cleaning or repair
