Overview

This program will give you the broad skills and knowledge which will allow you to work as a Learning Support Assistant but it also caters for specialisation in a range of education support contexts including Disability support, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education officer, numeracy and literacy worker, and home tutor.

You must have a Certificate III in an area of community services such as youth work, community development, disability, children's education and care or learning support, OR have 6 months of full-time (or part-time equivalent) current employment in early childhood education and care or education support.

If you are entering the program as a Trainee, you must be employed in the industry and be registered prior to enrolment.

To study any course at CIT (excluding degrees and non-accredited training) you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

  • Literacy Skills Information

    • We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework literacy levels of at least 3 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your program of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this program. See below to check your literacy skills. If you do not have this level, you can still enrol and seek support to improve your skills or you may prefer to begin with the lower level program.
