Australian Veterans' Children Assistance Trust (AVCAT) is a national charity providing tertiary education scholarships and bursaries to children and grandchildren of ex-serving veterans. AVCAT assist scholars each year to reach their potential through achieving a range of academic and personal goals.
Long Tan Bursaries are funded by the Australian Government Department of Veterans' Affairs. Other sponsored scholarships are funded by ex-service organisations and private donors.
Value: All bursaries and sponsored scholarships are for tertiary education and are $4000-$6000 per year, for three years.

Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible students must be:
- The child, stepchild, foster child or grandchild or an Australian ex-serving veteran*
- An Australian citizen
- Enrolled, or planning to enrol in 2023 in a full-time course at an Australian university, TAFE college or registered training organisation
- Be receiving, or be eligible to receive in 2023, Youth Allowance or an equivalent means-tested educational payment
*A veteran, for these scholarships, must be an Australian veteran with operational service, including eligible war service, war-like service, and peacekeeping/peacemaking service, OR have three or more years of continuous full-time service in the Australian Defence Force.
