Block 4, section 9 BRUCE (Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT), P Block High Risk and Renewables Compound, 1 Jack Fleming Place)
CIT is undertaking community consultation in relation to a proposal to erect a Tower Crane for the training and assessment of tower crane operators.
Pre DA consultation is required under Section 138AE of the Planning and Development Act 2007 (the Act) for prescribed developments; in this case, a building or structure more than 25 metre above finished ground level.
The location: CIT High Risk compound (P Block) is a controlled training and assessment facility operating to provide world-class safety training in high risk and working at height activities.

The erection of a 30 metre Tower Crane with a 35 metre boom will allow on-site training and assessment for operators and workers working near these types of Cranes. The crane will be in operation intermittently depending on student demand, Monday to Saturday daylight hours.
Timeframe: CIT is aiming to lodge the DA for this proposal by Monday 24 February 2020. We are hoping to begin construction of the Tower Crane Semester 1, 2020.
CIT will be hosting a drop in consultation session for members of the community to provide constructive feedback on our development proposal.
The session will be held at CIT Bruce, P Block, 1 Jack Fleming Place on
Thursday 20 February 2020 from 5pm-7pm.

The full set of plans will be available to be reviewed Representatives from the construction company and CIT will be available to answer any questions about the possible impacts and the process for approval and construction.
