The Rotary Club of Canberra City has partnered with Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) to offer two Rotary Club of Canberra City Equity Scholarships to eligible CIT students in 2015.

On 21 April, Rotary Club of Canberra City and CIT signed a Memorandum of Understanding to award two scholarships worth $2,500 each to continuing CIT students in their second year of studies or beyond to contribute directly to their student fees.

The scholarships are the result of the Rotary Club of Canberra City’s hard work and dedication fundraising within the local Canberra community to pay forward opportunity and financial assistance to those most in need.

Rotary Club of Canberra City member and witness to the MOU signing, Anne Jenkin, the club's Vocational Service Director, says these scholarships have an important point of difference from many others.

"There are lots of incentives available for helping people get into a course, but these scholarships are about actually wanting to keep students in a course and enabling to them to complete. Recipients will have already demonstrated a commitment to their study. I think that's important," she said.

Rotary Club of Canberra is especially pleased to launch this new scholarship in the year of the club's 40th anniversary as a celebration of the club's achievements and continued community involvement.

Acting Chief Executive, Leanne Cover, thanked the Rotary Club of Canberra City for the partnership opportunity.

"Rotary is highly regarded by the CIT community. CIT will be able to continue to achieve great outcomes for students and the community by working with invaluable organisations like Rotary," Ms Cover said.

Scholarship applications are now open and close on Tuesday 9 June at 5pm.
