Knowing just which career path to take is no easy task with so many options available. CIT Business, Tourism and Accounting makes the job a little easier by facilitating a taste of real courses and career opportunities in events, hospitality, travel and tourism, hotel management, business, management and accounting.

"Taste is an event we started five years ago and continue to offer annually. It gives school and college students from years 9 to 12 in the Canberra region an opportunity to experience a range of careers through hands-on activities," says CIT events teacher Sally Holdsworth.

The students also hear from industry professionals and from past students to learn what it's like to study a CIT course and to work in industry," Ms Holdsworth said.

There are a number of opportunities in Canberra throughout the year for students to learn about various education and career pathways, but Ms Holdsworth says CIT Taste offers a point of difference.

"Taste is a way of showcasing our courses and real career opportunities through a range of hands-on activities. It's about engaging students with practical participation and interactivity."

"The students always enjoy themselves - it is a lot of fun - but most importantly, it encourages students to think about their future and perhaps opens new possibilities they may not have previously considered."

CIT Taste is a free event that takes place over one day in June each year.
