Overview

The program covers selecting, commissioning, maintaining and diagnosing faults/malfunctions in electronic communications systems. This program enables students to seek employment in a variety of electronic related fields.

Additional Information

Students should bring to class a calculator and a computer memory stick (USB) to record work completed on computers.

Classrooms and well equipped electrotechnology workshops are available at CIT. Students will need to wear covered shoes and Australian Standard eye protection for practical units.

Note: If you have a Certificate III in Electronics and Communications (UEE30911), you will be given credit into this qualification.

It is recommended that you have appropriate numeracy skills to meet the academic requirements of this program. On entry, you may need to demonstrate this by undertaking a numeracy assessment. You may be required to undertake additional Foundation Skills subjects to support your learning and success in this program.

      Description:

      This Competency Standard Unit specifies the outcomes for the collecting, interpretation and application of environmental management information, the identification of environmental impacts and the assessment of risks. Electives are based on a point system. The following elective units are offered at CIT. At enrolment, a CIT teacher will discuss electives and their associated points. Not all electives will be available each semester.

  • Group 1 - a maximum of 920 points count (from Group B of the qualification) and (one unit from Group A of the qualification - 20 points)
  • Group 2 - complete all 6 to achieve a minimum of 260 points (from Group C of the qualification)
  • Group 3 - complete a minimum of 280 points (from Group D of the qualification)

      This unit addresses information, processes and techniques for the application of general occupational health and safety requirements in workplaces and is essential for employees without managerial responsibilities. The unit is based on Generic Competency A in the National Guidelines for Integrating OHS Competencies into National Industry Competency Standards [NOHSC: 7025 (1998) 2nd Edition].
      Note:
      All States/Territories and the Commonwealth have enacted legislation that establishes a general duty of care for workplace parties to ensure healthy and safe working conditions. In most workplaces, the final responsibility for providing a healthy and safe working environment, as far as practicable, rests with the employer. Employees also have a duty of care in relation to OHS that ensures their health and safety and that of others in the workplace. The relevant jurisdictional OHS legislation should always be consulted to ascertain the exact duties set down for employers and employees.
