Overview
This program provides the required knowledge and skills for qualified plumbers and gas fitters to register for a Restricted Electrical License (REL). The license is issued by Access Canberra ACT Government and not CIT.
This license will allow you to work on water heaters which are connected to a low voltage wiring installation.
Note that Restricted License requirements for this category License do not apply to appliances supplied with electricity through a cord and plug. The requirements of AS/NZS 3760 (current) do not apply to this program.
This program achieves units of competency from UEE11 Electrotechnology Training Package.

You will be required to complete a workbook or an on-line component prior to class attendance. This comprises of approximately 22 hours. You will also attend workshop at CIT Fyshwick campus, approximately 11 hours (one full day and one evening per week for 3 weeks). Eligible applicants who can demonstrate sufficient knowledge and application of electrical principles may receive fast track training. Existing restricted electrical license holders; if your license was issued 5 years or more CIT may offer you targeted training under this program to enable you renew your license. |

Licence Eligibility - once enrolled at CIT, participants are required to apply for a Restricted Disconnect reconnect permit with Access Canberra, ACT Government.

Entry Requirements
You must be a licensed tradesperson employed in the following trades: plumbing and gas fitter, Type B gas appliances, where disconnection and reconnection of electrical wiring is a component of the work performed.
To study any course at CIT (excluding degrees and non-accredited training) you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

If this occurs while you are part way through a qualification, you may need to vary your learning to meet the new national requirements. CIT will aim to make this as smooth as possible for you.
