Overview

This course is an introductory course in electrotechnology for work in a variety of industries. You will gain basic foundations and workplace safety skills to begin a career. You can choose electivity to specialise in electrical, electronics, air conditioning or refrigeration. This program can be useful for gaining an apprenticeship/traineeship.

Duration: 3 Semesters Part - time (approx. 6 hours per week). This program is delivered at CIT's custom built electrotechnology facility.

The 2019 enrolment fees for this course are based on the costs per subject as indicated below.

Subject costs identified as Profile apply to Standard students and are partially subsidised by the ACT Government. Concessions may be available to eligible students.

Costs identified as Apprentice or Trainee apply only to students studying as part of an Australian Apprenticeship arrangement. The qualification cost for an Apprentice or Trainee is subsidised by the ACT Government. Concessions may be available to eligible Apprentices or Trainees.

Costs identified as Commercial are full fee (FF) and receive no government subsidy. Concessions are not available.

Entry Requirements / How to Apply

This program has pre-requisite requirements as shown below. All prerequisites must be achieved. Discuss with a CIT teacher during enrolment to ensure you have met these requirements.

To study any course at CIT (excluding degrees and non-accredited training) you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

  • Literacy Skills Information

    • We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework literacy levels of at least 4 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your program of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this program. If you do not have this level, you can still enrol and seek support to improve your skills or you may prefer to begin with the lower level program.   • Transition Information

    • Qualifications at CIT are regularly updated or replaced to meet current industry needs and maximise your employment opportunities. If this occurs while you are part way through a qualification, you may need to vary your learning to meet the new national requirements. CIT will aim to make this as smooth as possible for you.
