Overview
This course provides traditional and contemporary outcomes in cabinet making trade. Both pathways: (Furniture) and (Kitchen and Bathroom) cover a broad skill base associated with traditional trade as well as contemporary manufacturing practices, site installation, interior decorating and design influences, CAD drawing and CNC programming and machining.

Additional Information
You will need to provide clothing and appropriate safety footwear suitable for working on a construction site and personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, dust masks and hearing protection.
In each year of study at CIT you will be required to work on practical projects and purchase them on completion at the cost of materials

You must:
- be able to read and write documents and understand maths concepts to a level required to complete Year 10 (early in the course your skills will be checked. If you cannot read and write documents and complete maths work to the level needed, you will be enrolled in additional subjects to help you build the skills needed to successfully complete the course.)
If you are entering this course as an Apprentice under the Australian Apprenticeships arrangements, you must be employed in the industry and you must register with an Apprentice Network Provider (ANP) prior to enrolment.
To study any course at CIT (excluding degrees and non-accredited training) you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
Literacy Skills Information
We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework levels of at least 2 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course. If you do not have this level, you can still enrol and seek support to improve your skills or you may prefer to begin with a lower level course, or enrol in the Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways (FSK20119) to develop your literacy skills. Description: | This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work. The unit requires the person to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.
This unit meets the general construction induction training requirements of:
• Part 1.1 Definitions and Part 6.5 of the Model Work Health and Safety Regulations;
• Division 11 of Part 3 of the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations 1996 for Western Australia; and
• Division 3 of Part 5.1 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2007 for Victoria.
It is expected that site-specific induction training will be conducted prior to conducting construction work.
